Jacinda Ardern has announced major changes to New Zealand's gun laws following the Christchurch attack, with all military-style semi-automatic weapons to be banned. The reforms include a buyback scheme that officials currently estimate could cost up to $200 million. There will also be a ban on assault rifles, high capacity magazines, and certain modification parts. Speaking on Thursday, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said 'in short, every semi-automatic weapon used in the terrorist attack on Friday will be banned in this country'.
