Former CEO of Facebook Australia Stephen Scheeler says that the context of unstructured data like video is difficult for Artificial Intelligence (AI) to understand. Mr Scheeler says context matters when it comes to ‘the fine points’ of hate speech, and AI may not recognise when a video violates a platform’s community standards. Social platforms have come under scrutiny following a man allegedly broadcasting his attack on two mosques in Christchurch live on social media.
